EUR/CHF shows how many Swiss francs (CHF) it takes to buy one euro (EUR). When the price rises, the euro is strengthening against the Swiss franc. Traders often call it “Euro Swissy”.
EUR is issued by the European Central Bank. It tends to respond to European Central Bank policy, eurozone inflation and growth data, and the spread between German and US bond yields.
CHF is issued by the Swiss National Bank. It tends to respond to Swiss National Bank policy and intervention, and safe-haven flows during market stress.
