Average daily range (ADR)
Also called: daily range
The average distance in pips between each day’s high and low over a period. It helps set realistic stops and targets.
With real data
Most volatile majors and crosses (avg daily range, last 90 days)
Calculated from price data up to 6 October 2026.
In practice
If a pair’s average daily range is 80 pips and it has already moved 75 pips today, a fresh 60-pip target in the same direction is less likely to be reached before the close.
Treating ADR as a ceiling. On news days a pair can move several times its average range.
