EUR/CAD shows how many Canadian dollars (CAD) it takes to buy one euro (EUR). When the price rises, the euro is strengthening against the Canadian dollar.

EUR is issued by the European Central Bank. It tends to respond to European Central Bank policy, eurozone inflation and growth data, and the spread between German and US bond yields.

CAD is issued by the Bank of Canada. It tends to respond to Bank of Canada policy, crude oil prices and the health of the US economy, Canada’s largest trading partner.
