How to spot forex signal scams on Telegram and social media

The warning signs of fake forex signal groups, account managers and impersonators, and simple checks that protect your money.

Updated 6 October 2026

Telegram is the most popular way to deliver forex signals, and it is also where a lot of scams live. These are the patterns to watch for, including people impersonating real channels such as ours.

1. Impersonators in your DMs

The most common scam: you join a real channel, and minutes later “the admin” messages you privately offering a VIP group, an account manager or a guaranteed return.

Our rule: ForexSignals.io will never message you first asking for money, a deposit, your broker login, a seed phrase or a “verification fee”. Our only official channel is t.me/Official_ForexSignals. Check the exact username, because lookalikes use extra underscores, swapped letters or “Official” in a different place. Our official channels page lists every account that is really us.

2. Guaranteed or unrealistic returns

“95% win rate”, “10% a day”, “never had a losing week”. Real trading has losing trades, losing weeks and drawdowns. Anyone promising otherwise is either lying or taking risks that will eventually blow up.

3. Account management and “send us your funds”

Never transfer money to an individual or give anyone your trading account password so they can “trade for you”. Legitimate managed accounts run through regulated firms with formal agreements. They do not run through a Telegram chat.

4. Results you can’t verify

Screenshots of profit are easy to fake and easy to cherry-pick. Look for:

  • signals posted before the move, with entry, stop and target
  • losses shown alongside wins
  • results expressed against risk (for example “+2R”), not just pips

5. Pressure and urgency

“Only 3 spots left”, “price goes up tonight”, “deposit in the next hour to unlock the bonus”. Urgency is designed to stop you thinking.

6. Broker pushing with strings attached

Some groups push you to a particular broker, sometimes unregulated, with large deposit bonuses that come with withdrawal conditions. Always check the broker’s regulation yourself on the regulator’s official website, not via a link in a chat.

7. Crypto-only payments and “withdrawal fees”

If you are asked to pay a fee or tax before you can withdraw “profits”, it is a scam. Legitimate brokers don’t work that way.

A quick safety checklist

  1. Did I find the channel myself, from the official website?
  2. Is anyone asking me for money, logins or remote access in a private message?
  3. Do the signals include a stop loss every time?
  4. Are losing trades shown?
  5. Is my broker regulated, and did I verify that independently?

If something feels off, leave the chat and report the account in Telegram. And whatever service you use, size every trade with a stop loss and a fixed risk percentage.
