In short
- A Telegram trade copier reads signal messages from channels you have joined and opens matching orders in MT4 or MT5, usually within seconds.
- There are three types: cloud copiers (no VPS), EA bridges that run inside MetaTrader, and desktop apps. Prices start at about $10 a month.
- The settings that decide your result are lot size, symbol mapping and how multiple take-profits are split, not the copier’s speed.
- Run any copier on a demo account for two weeks and check every copied trade against the original message.
How a Telegram to MT5 copier works
- It watches your channelsYou join the signal channel with your own Telegram account, then connect that account to the copier, which reads new messages as they arrive.
- It reads the signalThe parser picks out the pair, buy or sell, entry, stop loss and take profits. Better copiers also understand follow-ups such as “move SL to entry” or “close half”.
- It sizes the tradeUsing your settings: a fixed lot, or a percentage of your balance at risk based on the stop distance.
- It places the orderThrough your MT4/MT5 account, either from the copier’s servers (cloud) or from software on your PC or VPS.
- It manages the tradeWhen the channel posts an update, the copier changes or closes the open position to match.

“MetaApi” is a cloud service that connects to your broker’s MetaTrader servers on your behalf. Some cloud copiers include it; others ask you to buy it separately.

- MetaApi plan
A cloud copier that runs as a web app and a Telegram mini app, with no VPS. It’s $49.99 a month or $199.99 a year, and one subscription covers as many broker accounts as you connect. MetaApi is not included and is billed separately by usage, so add that to the price when comparing.
Speed claims such as “35 ms” or “250 ms” are the vendors’ own figures for their part of the process. They don’t include Telegram delivering the message or your broker filling the order, and the signal’s own timing matters far more than a few milliseconds.
How to set one up, step by step
- Open a demo MT4 or MT5 accountUse the same broker you plan to trade with, so symbol names and contract sizes match.
- Join the signal channelWith the Telegram account you will connect to the copier. Check the exact channel username, as impersonator channels are common.
- Connect Telegram and MetaTrader to the copierTelegram usually signs in with a code sent to your app. For MetaTrader you enter the account number, server and trading password, or install the copier’s EA.
- Set sizing and symbolsChoose risk per trade, map symbols your broker names differently, and decide how to split multiple take-profits (the settings are below).
- Run it for two weeks on demoCompare every copied trade with the original message: right pair, right direction, right stop, right size.
- Go live smallStart at half your normal risk for the first month, then review.
The settings that matter
| Setting | What it does | A sensible start |
|---|---|---|
| Lot sizing | Fixed lots, or a % of balance at risk based on the stop distance | Risk 0.5–1% per trade. Check the maths with the lot size calculator |
| Symbol mapping | Matches the channel’s names to your broker’s (XAUUSD vs GOLD, EURUSD vs EURUSD.m) | Map every pair the channel trades before going live |
| Multiple take-profits | Splits the position across TP1, TP2, TP3 | Split evenly, or close half at TP1 |
| Breakeven | Moves the stop to entry after TP1 is hit | On, if the provider manages trades that way |
| Max spread / slippage | Skips the trade if price has moved too far from the entry | A few pips on majors, more on gold |
| Pending order expiry | Cancels limit and stop orders that never fill | Same day, or the provider’s stated validity |
| Ignore keywords | Skips messages that aren’t signals, such as recaps or promotions | Add the channel’s recap and promo phrases |
| Trading hours / news filter | Pauses copying around major releases | Pause around rate decisions and NFP |
Get the sizing right before anything else. A copier that copies perfectly at 5% risk per trade will still empty an account; see risk management for why.
What goes wrong, and how to fix it
| Problem | Why it happens | Fix |
|---|---|---|
| Trade opened on the wrong symbol, or not at all | Broker uses a suffix or different name | Add symbol mappings and a suffix rule |
| Lot size far too big | Fixed lots on a small account, or a misread stop | Switch to % risk sizing and set a maximum lot |
| Stop loss missing | Channel posted the stop in a later message, or as “SL: 40 pips” | Use a copier that reads pips and follow-ups, and set a default stop |
| Entry far from the signal’s price | Message arrived late, or price moved fast | Set a maximum distance from entry, or use pending orders |
| Trades left open after the channel closed them | Copier missed or couldn’t read the update | Check open trades daily against the channel |
| Copying stopped overnight | PC or VPS went offline, or the session expired | Use a cloud copier, or monitor the VPS |
Prop firms and copiers
Many prop firms restrict copy trading, especially copying third-party signals or the same trades across several accounts. Read your firm’s rules before you connect a copier to a funded or challenge account. Avoid any tool that advertises being “undetectable” by prop firms: breaking the rules can cost you the account and any payout.
Using a copier with our signals
Our free Telegram channel posts every signal in the same plain-text layout: pair, buy or sell, entry, stop loss and take profits, which is the format most copiers are built to read. If you copy us, set risk per trade yourself and test on demo first. New to copying? Start with copy trading explained.
Checklist before you switch it on
- Every pair the channel trades is mapped to your broker’s symbol.
- Sizing is % risk, with a maximum lot set.
- Two weeks of demo trades match the channel’s messages.
- You know how to stop the copier in one tap.
Frequently asked questions
Can you copy Telegram signals to MT5 automatically?
Yes. A Telegram trade copier reads messages from channels you have joined, picks out the pair, direction, entry, stop loss and take profit, and opens a matching order in MetaTrader 5 (or 4). It can also follow updates such as moving the stop to breakeven or closing early.
Do I need a VPS to copy Telegram signals?
Only with copiers that run on your own computer, such as a desktop app or an MT4/MT5 Expert Advisor; the machine has to stay on, so a VPS is the usual answer. Cloud copiers connect to your broker from their own servers, so you don’t need one.
Is it safe to give a copier my MT5 login?
A copier needs your account number, server and trading password to place trades. The trading password can open and close trades but cannot withdraw money, because withdrawals go through your broker’s client area. Use a reputable tool, start on a demo account, and change the password if you stop using the service.
Will a copier work with any signal channel?
Most copiers read standard text signals with a pair, direction and price levels. Signals sent as images, voice notes or vague instructions such as “buy gold now, SL later” are harder to read and often get skipped or misread. Test any channel on a demo account first.
Can I use a Telegram copier on a prop firm account?
Check your prop firm’s rules first. Many restrict copying third-party signals or using the same trades across accounts. Breaking those rules can cost you the account, so avoid any tool that sells itself on being undetectable.
Does ForexSignals.io have its own trade copier?
No. We publish signals on Telegram with an entry, stop loss and take profit on every trade, which is the format copiers are built to read. You can take them by hand or with a copier you choose and control.
